10 October 2011 Day 60 (117) A connection at last, even though it is using the iphone as a personal hotspot

We have been for soooo long without an internet connection that I have just bitten the bullet and am using cell system. Last working connection was back in Sep sometime. Anyway, we have just arrived at Chaumont, on the Canal Entre Champagne et Bourgogne at position PK110 (110 km from the start at Vitry le Francois. This canal, so far, we have done 46 ascending (montant) locks. We have another 45km and 25 locks to go to get to the tunnel at the top (altitude 340 metres) before starting our descent (avalant) 43 locks down to the Saone. We have another 114km left to reach the southern end at Maxilly sur Saone. After this, about 24km and only 2 locks on the Saone to reach Auxonne, where WM is staying over the winter. We will comeback to Blighty for a little while, not sure of dates as yet.
Our posn 48 07.043N
005 09.217E.
Total stats so far:
Distance covered 743.2km
Days travelling in waterways 60
Days since leaving UK 116
Locks:
40 Calais to Paris Arsenal
80 Paris Arsenal to Chaumont= 120 so far.
Quite relaxing really.
