Went across to Merton Road to see Steve’s mum. Much nattering and a pleasant day. We managed to store our inflatable mattress and sleeping bags there in order to reduce the load in the car; we have more stuff to collect prior to returning to ‘le continent’. It was lovely to spend time with ‘Plum’ and good to see her in fine spirits.
In the evening, we went on the tube up to Islington with M&T and T&A and Emily to the O2 Academy, where Laurie Nicoll was performing a set. This girl is good – keep your eyes out in the pop charts in the next year or two, Laurie is going to take it by storm. She writes her own material, has a lovely clear and powerful voice and she is developing a smasterful stage presence. Her songs have meaning and when she sings them she is truly telling the story in the song.
Back to Rayners Lane via the Village Inn, where Emily works, for some real ale and crisps before returning to M&T’s and bed.
